The Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology sponsors and supports the Madrid IPv6 Forum Conference

The Madrid Global IPv6 Summit, the first Technological Event of the 21st century, will take place in Madrid, at S. Lorenzo de El Escorial, from January 29th to February 1st 2001. It’s sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as by some international corporations, such as: 3Com, 6Wind, Cisco Systems, Compaq, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, Nokia, Nortel Networks, novaGnet systems, Ola Internet and Sun Microsystems. All of them will set up a display of their products in a special place next to lecture room.

“The event, thought to introduce this new protocol, is also endorsed by 3GPP, ANIEL (Spanish Electronics and Telecommunications Industries Association), CMT (Spanish Government Telecom Market Commission), ES-NIC (ES-Network Information Center), ETSI, INECO (Spanish Public Consortium for Transport Related Engineering), ISOC (Internet Society), RedIRIS (Spanish Academic & Research Network), Telefónica, UMTS Forum, Carlos III University of Madrid, UPC (Technical University of Catalonia), DIT-UPM (Department of Telematic Systems Engineering - Technical University of Madrid), and WCAI (Wireless Communications Association International), and will offer a full range of lectures, given by international experts on 3G y UMTS, top executives dealing with the development of IPv6 products and services, national and international researchers, actual users of IPv6 (like defense and air traffic control), and managers of pilot projects from Universities and Telco’s, from all over the world” according to Jordi Palet, Co-Chair of the Education, Promotion and Public Relations Working Group and founding member of IPv6 Forum and Product Manager of Consulintel, manager and organizer of the event.

“Also included in the program, there is a Tutorial, in which those users that already have some IPv4 knowledge, will be able to acquire a deeper expertise of the new protocol”.

All talks will be translated simultaneously Spanish/English and English/Spanish, and there will be also some extra activities which will enable everybody to meet and discuss with some IPv6 experts in this field.
